Lore

The world of Albion

Albion is a continent of old forests, drowned marshes and highlands that have been fought over for far longer than anyone still living can remember. The Royal Expeditionary Force arrived to claim it, and found a land already occupied by powers with their own claims.

The Royals

The expeditionary forces hold the safest ground: the roads, the fortified towns and the trade routes between them. Their authority thins the further one travels from the cities, and in the Outlands it amounts to little more than a flag on a map.

The Keepers

The Keepers were on the continent long before the Royals landed. They guard old stone circles and burial grounds, and treat the expansion of settlement as a desecration to be answered with force.

The Heretics

Deserters, exiles and opportunists who abandoned the Royal cause and turned to raiding. They know the terrain and the supply lines, which makes them considerably more dangerous than common bandits.

The Undead

Beneath the surface lie tombs that were sealed for good reason. What walks in them now does not tire, does not scatter, and does not stop at the doors of the crypt.

The Disciples of Morgana

A cult bound to a figure whose name is spoken carefully even by those who serve her. They work through corruption and infiltration as often as through open battle.

Demons of Hell

Where the boundary between worlds has worn thin, gates open onto somewhere else entirely. What comes through has no interest in territory, only in the tearing of everything that stands.

Your Place In It

None of these powers wrote your story. In Albion the meaningful history is made by players — the guilds that hold ground, the traders who supply the wars, and the crafters whose work decides who wins them.
